POLICIES and PROCEDURES: CATHEDRAL CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

At registration, parents are required to sign and date an affidavit that verifies that they have read and understood the terms of the registration forms, which become legally in force as a contract between this school and parent(s) or guardian(s) from that date forth.

The following is not *all inclusive, but is a condensed overview of some salient points:

MISSION

We have received a mandate to provide excellence in academics and the arts within the framework of Biblical values. Cathedral Christian School does this by:

TRANSPORTATION

We do not offer daily bus service at present. We do utilize a bus for field trips.

DAILY SCHEDULE

School starts at 8:30 a.m. | Recess 10:00-10:15 | Lunch 12:00-12:45 | Recess 2:00-2:15 | School ends at 3:00 p.m.

School ends at 12:00 p.m for Kindergarten students.

LUNCHES

Students must bring lunches. They are not allowed free access to the refrigerator or microwave, or kitchen. They must not trade food. We require that the parents providing a nourishing diet with moderate amounts of sugars and carbohydrates. There should be additional snacks for the fifteen minute breaks, and after school, if the case applies.

BEFORE-and-AFTER-SCHOOL SUPERVISION

We have 24-hour personnel in case of emergencies, but non-emergency supervision is on a special limited basis and should be discussed in detail previous to enrollment. There will be a charge for this service.

DEVOTIONS and PLEDGES

There is a daily spiritual devotion period at the beginning of each school day in which the students pray, sing, recite U.S. and Christian pledges, quote assigned scriptures, and receive congratulation slips. There will also be a teaching by a staff member on a Biblical principle.

REPORT CARDS, and AWARDS

Awards ceremonies are quarterly. Parents and students are expected to attend. The report card will be issued to the parent or guardian at that time, and must be signed and returned. In the event of transfers to another school or matriculation, records are not released until bills are paid in full.

CONDUCT & DISCIPLINE POLICY

  1. Students are expected to refrain from talking about or engaging in cheating, chewing gum, swearing, fighting, smoking, gambling, rock music, dancing, promiscuity, drinking alcoholic beverages, bringing knives or weapons to school, and using narcotic drugs. (Prescription drugs and over the counter drugs may only be used with written parental consent, and will be kept in the school office.) All items brought to school by students are subject to administrative approval.
  2. Students should keep their hands and feet off of all other students. They must not touch the desks of teachers and of other students, or other's food, or beverages, or automobiles. They may not touch school property or teachers' property without permission.
  3. Students are required to adhere to standards that provide a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to a high level of learning. Students are encouraged to be respectful, responsible, and practice self-discipline and good manners.
  4. There is a school dress code, details of which will be provided in printed form at registration.
  5. Parties are not school sponsored unless parents receive an official letter stating such.
  6. Visitors must obtain an office pass and maintain school standards while present.
  7. Cars and bikes must be locked during school. Student drivers may only drive home members of their immediate family. Changes in transportation arrangements must be in writing.
  8. Student telephone use is for school business and emergencies. A staff member will dial the call.

Cathedral Christian School reserves the right to ask for the withdrawal of any child who is unwilling to adjust to the school's environment within a reasonable amount of time. Failure of students or parents to adhere to school policies is grounds for dismissal.

AWARDS, INCENTIVES, PRIVILEGES

There are many daily and periodic rewards given to students to encourage them for good work habits , attitudes, and conduct:

to name a few---stickers, ribbons, certificates, trophies, prizes, treats, gifts, extra breaks, games, special events, and surprises.
