There's no question among Christians that the Holy Ghost is called the Spirit of God.
Neither is there any question as to the fact that Jesus is both the Son of God and is Himself
God. Therefore, the Spirit of Jesus is the Spirit of God which dwells in born-again
believers. The indwelling Spirit is the "earnest [guarantee]" (Cor. 1:22) of good things to
come, that is, "Christ in you, the hope of glory"---"the Spirit of glory."
The inspired writers of the Acts and the epistles interchanged the names of God as they were guided by the Holy Spirit. This practice shows their spiritual understanding of the oneness of the Godhead, but does not confuse the roles of the three offices of the Godhead.
"I [Jesus] am the Way, the Truth, and the Life." [Jn. 14:6]
The Spirit is Life ..." [Rom. 8:10]
"I [Jesus] am the way, the Truth
The Spirit is Truth." [1 Jn. 5:6]
Therefore: Jesus = Spirit.
"...If Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life ..." [Rom 8:10]
The King James Bible capitalizes "Spirit" in the above verse.
"The Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not
the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His." [Rom.8:9]
"But if the Spirit ... dwell in you, He ... shall also quicken
[make alive] your mortal bodies by His Spirit ..." [Rom. 8:13]
As illustrated above in Romans, the following terms are synonyms:
CHRIST (Holy Ghost) SPIRIT OF GOD (Holy Ghost) SPIRIT OF CHRIST, (Holy Ghost), and in Galatians SPIRIT OF HIS SON [see top] (Holy Ghost)
---Christ is the Spirit of Jesus. Jesus has a glorified body filled with the Spirit, and that body is in heaven at the right hand of the Father. --"Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God." [Acts 7:56]. The threefold manifestation of God is seen in the preceding verse:
"[Stephen]... saw the glory of God [the Holy Ghost], and Jesus [the Son] standing on the right hand of God [the Father]." On earth Jesus was the bodily representation of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost: "... God was manifest in the flesh ..." [1 Tim.3:16].
Yet, Jesus says, "I am IN the Father, and the Father in Me
[Jn. 14:10,11] and again, "Do not I fill heaven and earth?" [Jer. 23:24] and again, "Christ
... Him that filleth all in all." [Eph, 1:20,23] "But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be
filled with the glory [Holy Ghost] of the Lord" [Num, 14:21] Theologically, the Son of God
Who is in heaven is called Jesus; His earthly body, after the ascension, is now called the
Church; And the Spirit of Jesus (Holy Ghost) which indwells both His glorified body and
the Church, and fills the heaven and earth is called Christ. At the end, He will deliver up
the kingdom to the Father [1 Cor. 15:24]; None of the offices of the Godhead are
diminished by their cooperation and delegation, nor will any of the three persons ever cease
The Holy Ghost shall teach you all things ..." [Jn. 14:26]
The same anointing teacheth you of all things ..." [1 Jn. 2:27]
Again, "... Anointing is ... truth ..." [1 Jn. 2:27]
The Spirit is truth." [1 Jn. 5:6]
Therefore, the anointing = Spirit
Ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all
things ..." [1 Jn. 2:20]
unction = anointing; [Strong's concordance #5545 Greek]
The Holy Ghost [Jn 14:26] and the anointing [1 Jn 2:27] and the unction [1 Jn. 2:20] give
knowledge. ---The Holy Ghost, anointing, and unction are synonyms for a living person
because they all teach.
The English name for God, the Lord Jesus Christ, is derived from JHVH-Jehoshua-Christos
"JHVH" is the conjugation of the Hebrew "to be" verb in the first person, "I", that is to say, "I Was, I Am, I Will Be." The pronunciation of "JHVH" is unknown, but it has been pronounced "Jehovah" from the time of the sixteenth century, and is occasionally pronounced "Yahweh". Jehoshua means, The Lord is Savior. However, the power is in the name, Lord Jesus Christ.
As to the fact that "the Lord Jesus Christ" is indeed a name, Ephesians chapter three,
verses fourteen and fifteen say, "... Our Lord Jesus Christ, of Whom the whole family in
heaven and earth is named."
As to the fact that Christ is a name:
"Christ ... far above every name that is named." [Eph. 1:20,21]
Meshiyach (Hebrew) = Christos (Greek) = anointed = Christ
Christos, anointed, i.e. the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus:--Christ [Strong's Concord. #5547] Epithet, according to Webster's Dictionary is a "descriptive name"
Whether a person calls the word, Christ, a "name" or a "title" is a vain argument:
Webster's Dictionary says--- ti' tle, n. name ,etc.
Funk & Wagnals Dictionary says--- ti' tle, n. 1. The name of a
book, play, etc.; 2. An appellation significant of office, rank,
etc.; esp., a designation of nobility; 3. A characteristic or
descriptive name; epithet.
"Anoint" in the Greek is, "chrio": to anoint or to consecrate to
an office [Stronq's Concord. #554] The Holy Ghost consecrated the Son of God to perform the office of the christ--preaching followed by signs: "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me: because the Lord hath anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound." [Is. 61:1] God is The "I Was--I Am--I Will Be.
God was anointed--is anointed-- will be anointed. God was anointing--is anointing--will be
anointing. Jesus was anointed and Jesus is still anointing others with the Spirit of Christ
The Spirit of Christ is the Holy Ghost:
The Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified ..." [1 Pet. l:11]
"... Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." [2 Pet. 1:21]. These verses refer to prophecy, a "chrisma" gift of the Holy Ghost.
In the Bible, Jesus was prophetically called the Christ previous to His baptism. He was not
called Christ on an active basis until after His anointing at His baptism. At this point, the
Holy Ghost (visibly represented by a dove) was seen descending upon Jesus the Son, while
the Father's voice spoke from heaven. Beginning from the time of Jesus' anointing with/as
the Christ, He began to do the works of Christ. "This beginning of miracles did Jesus in
Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth His glory[the Holy Ghost]" [John 2:11] "... The
works of Christ ..." [Matt. 11:2] "... All these [chrisma giftsl worketh that one and the
selfsame Spirit ..." [1 Cor. 12:11]
Referring to the Holy Ghost, the Comforter,
Jesus said, "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." [Jn. 14:18] ---Jesus equates Himself with the Holy Spirit. It would be no more wrong for Jesus to call His Spirit "Christ" than for the Father [Lord] to call His only begotten Son "Lord" ---"The Lord
said unto my Lord, sit Thou on My right hand ... [Matt. 22:44]
"God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power
... God was with Him." [Acts 10:38]
The anointing is the Holy Ghost -- the anointing is power --the anointing is God.
Christ the power of God ..." [1 Cor. 1:24]
The Holy Ghost is power--the anointing is power--Christ is power. If A=B and if B=C
Therefore, the HOLY GHOST = CHRIST
We have the mind of Christ" [l Cor. 2:16]
"... The Spirit maketh intercession for us ..." [Rom. 8:26]
"... He knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit ..." [Rom. 8:27]
"... Spiritually minded ..." [Rom. 8:6] WHAT SPIRIT?
The things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God" [1 Cor. 2:11]
Christ maketh intercession for us." [Rom. 8:34]
Christ maketh intercession--the Holy Spirit maketh intercession-Christ and the Spirit are
one Spirit. God is not three spirits; God is one Spirit.
Ministereth to you the Spirit ..." [Gal. 3:5]
"... Ministers of Christ ..." [1 Cor. 4:1] "... Ministers of the Spirit ..." [2 Cor. 3:6]
"... They drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was CHRIST." [1 Cor. 10:4] Referring to the cloud of the glory of the Holy Spirit in the wilderness.
"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body .. and have
been all made to drink into one SPIRIT." [1 Cor. 12:13]
"Bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" [2 Cor. 10:4]
If a Christian believes that the Holy Spirit speaks as the voice of the Lord, then, to obey
Christ is to obey the Holy Ghost.
The Bible warns, "... If he that cometh preacheth another Jesus ... or if ye receive another Spirit ... ye might well bear with him." [2 Cor. 11:4].
The true Jesus is anointed. He is Jesus Christ.
Any other Jesus is not anointed. That other Jesus is not Jesus Christ---the other one is just
a Jesus. Now, if Jesus with the anointing is "Jesus Christ", and Jesus without the
anointing is just another "Jesus", then the word, "Christ", must refer to the anointing,
that is to say, the Spirit which was upon our Jesus, and the same Spirit which overflowed
from Him unto others (especially after He was glorified). Remember that the Bible talks
about last days apostate churches with a form of Godliness, but no power. [1 Tim 3:5] The
apostate churches have another Jesus, not the Christ.
In Mark 14:61,62, when Jesus was arrested and brought before the high priest, the priest asked, "Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" And Jesus said, "I Am." The high priest shouted to the other priests, "Ye have heard the blasphemy."
---The Jewish scholars knew that when Jesus said that He is the Christ (and that He is the
Son of God) He was saying that the Spirit of God abode in His mortal body. Christ is in
Jesus and Christ is in us. Who is in us? --Christ, the Spirit of Jesus.
We read about the "doctrine of Christ" in Hebrews chapter six;
that term, "doctrine of christ", is in another scripture also:
"Whosoever abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son." [1 Jn. v.9]
If you abide in the doctrine of Christ, the doctrine of Christ abides in you:
"Ye abide in Me and My words in you." [Jn 15:7]
Jesus said, "... The words that I speak unto you; they are spirit
and they are life." [Jn 6:63] --The doctrine of Christ is spirit. Which spirit? --The Holy Spirit, of course.
The doctrine of Christ is the Word -- the Word is Christ ("... We preach Christ ..." [1 Cor. 1:23]) If the doctrine of Christ abides in you, then Christ abides in you; if Christ (the doctrine of Christ) abides in you, then you have both the Father and the Son.(2 Jn. v.9). If Christ abides in you; the Spirit of Truth abides in vou:
"And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another comforter, that He may abide
with you for ever; even the Spirit of Truth ..." [Jn. 14:16,17] "... If a man love Me, he will
keep My words; and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him, and make Our
abode with him." [Jn 14:23] compare the above verse with---"... he that abideth in the
doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son."
Does applying the name, "Christ", to the person of the Holy Ghost take anything away
from Jesus the Christ? NO! Not at all! It pleased the Father to give His name, Lord, to the
Son. Does that make the Father any less Lord? Likewise, it pleases the Son to give His
anointed name, "Christ", to the Holy Ghost. In doing so, is Jesus any less the Christ?
God is the anointer--Jesus is the anointed--the Holy Spirit is the anointing. It is also proper to call Jesus the anointer--He takes of His own and gives to us.
In Bible typology, God took portions of Moses' anointing to give to others. Today Jesus
takes of His anointing and places "Christ in you, the hope of glory" ("the Spirit of glory
resteth upon you") and allows us to partake of His Spirit:
"For we are made partakers of Christ ..." [Heb.3:14]
equated with "... Partakers of the Holy Ghost." [Heb. 6:4]
--And Jesus allows us to use the anointed name, "Christian" I say anointed, because the
anointed Word says "the disciples were called Christians" [Acts 11:26]
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." [Matt. 28:19]
It is crucially important. to notice that in the above verse, the word, "name", is singular NOT plural. The name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost refers to the triune name of God. There's no power in the phrase, "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost", but demons tremble at the name, "Lord Jesus Christ."
The two words, "Lord" and "Jesus" occur in the same verse many times in the Gospels. In
the Gospels, the two words, "Lord" and "Christ", occur in the same verse only twice.
When the Father revealed to Peter that Jesus was the Christ, Jesus commanded the
disciples to tell no man of Him. Jesus was waiting for a specific time for the full revelation
of Christ. ---The three words, "Lord" and "Jesus" and "Christ" never occur in the same
verse in any of the four Gospels. This simultaneous occurrence does not happen until Acts
chapter two, verse thirty-six, when Peter, newly baptized with the Holy Ghost, instantly
received the revelation of the New Testament name of the triune Godhead:
"God hath made that same Jesus Whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ." Just two verses later Peter exhorted, "... Be baptized ... in the name of Jesus Christ."
"Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should how and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." [Phili. 2:9-11]
What name do you think was confessed by the new converts at that first Christian
The name of the Father is "Lord" ("I am the Lord: that is My name ..." [Is. 42:8] The name of the Son is "Jesus" ("... Thou shalt call His name Jesus ..." [Matt. 1:21] The name of the Holy Ghost is ??????
If the name for the Holy Ghost is "Christ", then the above question is answered. --But if
you think that the name of the Father is "Lord" and that the name of the Son is "Jesus
Christ", then it is your incumbent responsibility to be a noble Berean---you must come up
with another name for the Holy Ghost. However, your search must be limited to the
context of Baptism scriptures because that is the parameters set by the Bible in Matthew
"Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."
If only the Father and Son are represented in the name,"Lord Jesus christ", how can the Holy Ghost anoint a name that He is excluded from. For example, can the Spirit bless a church that. He is not welcome in. If the Holy Ghost. Himself cannot use the name, "Christ", then we are audacious when we dare to call ourselves Christians. Praise God, such is not truly the case.
The truth is, the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. Therefore, the name of the Holy Ghost
must be incorporated within that compound name of God, "the Lord Jesus Christ". The
compound name is made up of distinguishable descriptive names perfectly united in the
indivisible name which is above every name.
Before Peter was baptized with the Holy Ghost he had some understanding of this name,
but was told to tell nobody. Why is this? --"He [Jesus] knew all men, and needed not that
any should testify of man: for He knew what was in man." [Jn. 2:24,25] Jesus did not want
or need flesh testifying of Him. Likewise, Jesus did not need or want the demons to testify
of Him [Mk. 1:25]. Jesus wants the Holy Spirit and an anointed Church to testify of
When the Comforter is come even the Spirit of Truth, which proceedeth from the Father,
He shall testify of Me: and ye also shall bear witness ..." [Jn. 15:26,27]
Ye shall receive power, after that. the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses unto Me ... unto the uttermost part of the earth." [Acts 1:8].
On the Day of Pentecost Peter was compelled by the Spirit to speak that name, because
Peter had finally been anointed to preach.
Although the Son shares the name, "Lord", with the Father; the Son ultimately gives all
the glory to the Father. Likewise, although the Holy Ghost shares the name, "Christ", with
the Son; the Holy Ghost ultimately gives all the glory to the Son, Who in turn passes this
glory on to the Father.
2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of
Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
8: 14b ... They sent unto them Peter and John:
v.15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy
Ghost: 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name
of the Lord Jesus.)
10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.

In an actual baptism, there is no recorded Biblical reference to usage of the verbatim
phrase, "in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. "
The COMMAND is to "teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Ghost," (Matt, 28:19)
The OBEDIENCE TO THE ABOVE COMMAND is to baptize in some derivative of the name, the Lord Jesus Christ. God gives the Holy Ghost to them that obey him. (Acts 5:32) Many organizations that do not baptize in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ also resist the moving of the Holy Spirit and the charisma manifestations. There is a fleshly tendency toward avoiding the usage of the name, the Lord Jesus Christ in public, except as a profanity. The nature of man is to substitute the less offensive term, "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost." We shall overcome the devil by the blood of the Lamb, and by the testimony of Jesus Christ. END
