In the U.S. the cry goes up from a concerned populace, angered and anxious about the rising tide of illiteracy--a cry for their children, the innocent victims of an educational system gone awry. As Forrest Sawyer reported on an ABC nationwide news special, "There is a crisis in education all across America."
On the ABC program "Revolution at Work," one father, a corporate executive, said, "The need is critical, the need is immediate. We have an educational system that is sick within, and we can't repair ... or heal it by addressing bits and pieces of it. We have to address the entire system."
That's what we are all about. That's what we've been doing for over twenty-four years.
From its inception, Cathedral Christian School has pursued well-defined objectives,
successfully laying a godly foundation in the hearts and minds of America's youth.
Our emphasis is on learning, not teaching.
It is a fallacy to believe that all children of the same age level learn at the same rate of
comprehension. This errant teaching concept has allowed the initial frustrations of
fledgling students to be perpetuated throughout their entire scholastic careers. In the
public system, neglected basic informational gaps widen into chasms producing lifelong
stigmas---all this due to the spurious philosophy of---same age, same maturation level.
From the onset in 1981, Cathedral Christian School has used individualized curriculum:
Students are tested diagnostically and are then placed in the curriculum in each subject at their own performance levels determined by the results of the diagnostic tests.
The unique format of the curriculum allows students to advance from unit to unit as they demonstrate mastery. Students move independently through the curriculum under the supervision of instructors who provide tutoring at the optimum moment of learning.
---But we offer much more than quality academics. The curriculum, with scripture quotations on nearly every page, is built on a theistic philosophic foundation. Students learn to see life from God's point of view. Their personal relationship with God and their personal responsibilities to family, church, and community, and nation are of primary concern.
In this crucial hour, our alternative approach to socialized humanistic public education is a return to the godly heritage upon which this nation was founded.
